WASHINGTON, Sept. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Officials with the New York City Police Department announced this weekend that remains discovered on the shore of Rikers Island were confirmed to be those of missing Delta flight attendant and Teamster member Sierra Shields.
Shields had been missing since Jan. 14, 2016 and her disappearance prompted a nationwide search. The Teamsters joined the voices seeking information on her whereabouts.
"On behalf of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the Teamsters Airline Division and all of our airline members, I want to extend our deepest sympathy and thoughts to the family of Ms. Shields," said Capt. David Bourne, Director of the Teamsters Airline Division. "Sierra was a beloved member of our Teamsters family and she will be greatly missed. I want to thank all of the Teamsters who aided the police and her family in the search and rescue efforts. You have demonstrated the true meaning of unity."
