LYNN, Mass., Feb. 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Teamsters Local 42 and the Greater Lynn Senior Services (GLSS) reached a tentative agreement late last night for the more than 280 drivers and clerical workers who serve Lynn's elderly and disabled population.
"We reached an agreement that provides quality improvements for the Teamsters who transport and serve our elders and disabled every single day," said Joe Benevento, Local 42 Secretary-Treasurer. "We had more than 20 bargaining sessions last October and we're pleased that GLSS recognized the contributions our members make to the community."
The new three-year agreement includes:
- A total increases in the economic package of more than 13 percent;
- No increases to health care costs for members;
- Safety improvements; and
- Participation in the New England Teamsters Pension Fund.
The union also halted efforts to diminish the grievance, seniority and steward provisions in the contract. The new contract has the full recommendation of the negotiating committee and will be presented to the membership later this week for ratification.
"When workers stand together they will win," said Sean O'Brien, Joint Council 10 Secretary-Treasurer. "We're proud of the work our members do in Lynn and happy to see they will be properly rewarded for their skills and dedication."
Local 42 represents more than 1,100 hardworking men and women in both the private and public sector throughout the North Shore and Cape Ann.
