Sestak, a former three-star Navy admiral, has been a member of the House of Representatives from southeastern Pennsylvania since 2006.
"Rep. Sestak is an outstanding leader who will support working families," said Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa. "He has spoken out time and again on the need to extend emergency COBRA subsidies and unemployment insurance. He voted for the jobs bills. He's been with us on misclassification. He voted for the stimulus bill. I'm pleased that the Pennsylvania Conference has endorsed him."
"Pennsylvania Teamsters know firsthand how Wall Street bankers threaten their jobs by trading in derivatives," said William Hamilton, president of the Pennsylvania Conference of Teamsters and an international vice president for the union. "Rep. Sestak has sided with working families against Wall Street in the House of Representatives and I'm confident he'll do the same in the Senate."
"Rep. Sestak understands that Pennsylvania needs good jobs that pay fair wages," said Roy Marshall, president of Teamsters Joint Council 40 in Pittsburgh. "He co-sponsored a bill to crack down on the misclassification of workers that robs them of their wages and benefits. He's clearly the best choice for Pennsylvania Democrats."
The Pennsylvania Conference of Teamsters represents 92,000 members in the public and private sectors throughout the commonwealth.
Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents more than 1.4 million hardworking men and women in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
