OMAHA, Neb., May 28, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Detention Officers of Pottawattamie County Jail represented by Teamsters Local Union 554 in Omaha, Nebraska announced their support for Andy Brown for Sheriff in the June 2 primary on Tuesday.
Teamsters Local 554 also announced its endorsement for Brown in the primary today, supporting its former member who is currently a Lieutenant serving in the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office in Iowa. Brown also received the endorsement of the Pottawattamie County Deputy Association after the former sheriff announced his retirement after 28 years.
"The Teamsters are excited and encouraged about Andy Brown, who has earned the respect & confidence of the Detention Officers," said Kim Quick, President of Teamsters Local 554. "Andy began his career with the Teamster members at the Pottawattamie County Detention Facility. He continued his career from a Detention Officer to a Deputy and through the ranks. We believe Andy Brown is the best candidate for Sheriff of Pottawattamie County, Iowa."
Voters can vote in the primary early or by absentee ballot through June 1. Brown has run on a platform of open and mutual respect between the county, community and the Sheriff's Office. Brown has stated he will put professional and ethical conduct first and uphold the solemn duty of the Sheriff's office to protect public safety.
