"Sen. Barbara Boxer is a longtime friend of the Teamsters Union and we are proud to return her to Washington to continue her strong representation of working families in California," said Rome Aloise, International Vice President and President of Joint Council 7 in San Francisco. "She knows that the working men and women of America are the backbone of our economy."
Teamsters mobilized throughout the state to elect Boxer to a fourth term. Throughout her career, Boxer has been a staunch advocate for the right to organize and the fight for fair wages and benefits.
Teamsters also worked tirelessly to return Brown to the governor's mansion. A lifelong public servant dedicated to improving the lives of Californians, Brown served as the state's governor for two terms nearly 30 years ago. He was elected as attorney general in 2006, where he has successfully fought to protect working families and consumers, including port drivers fighting against trucking company abuses. He also was mayor of Oakland.
"Jerry Brown will get California working again and keep California working," said Randy Cammack, International Vice President and President of Joint Council 42 in Covina. "He has real plans to create good jobs in our ports and on our rails and roads. He sees opportunities to make our state a job creation leader in renewable energy and efficiency. There are few public servants more dedicated to helping and protecting workers than Jerry Brown."
"Teamsters took a stand in this election against corporate forces and their unlimited funds, and emerged victorious" said Rick Middleton, International Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer of Local 572 in Carson. "The elections of Barbara Boxer and Jerry Brown prove that the strength and determination of working families should never be discounted."
