Team Rubicon to Establish Dallas Emergency Operations Center to Increase Global Disaster Response Capabilities
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Team Rubicon, a non-profit disaster response organization that repurposes the skills of military veterans, will establish an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in Dallas in early 2016. In an effort to rapidly scale up its global response capabilities, Team Rubicon has already begun hiring local staff and mobilizing key partners in the Dallas-Forth Worth area.
"We specifically selected Dallas-Fort Worth for its strategic, geographic importance in our disaster response operations, the strong emergency management community in Texas and the high density of veterans in the area," said Jake Wood, CEO of Team Rubicon. "This EOC will allow Team Rubicon to greatly increase our domestic capabilities while also assisting in the tracking and support of our international operations."
Team Rubicon recently hired Dennis Clancey as Deputy Director of Response to support global disaster response efforts from the new EOC. An Army officer and West Point graduate, Clancey responded with Team Rubicon following the Nepal earthquake as well as the 2015 floods in Texas.
Since first responding to the disastrous earthquake in Haiti in 2010, Team Rubicon has grown from 8 members to more than 33,000 volunteers, and has responded to over 100 disasters around the world, including the floods in South Carolina, Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, tornadoes in Missouri and Hurricane Sandy in New York.
Team Rubicon will be hiring additional full-time staff in Dallas over the coming months and working with a local network of partners and supporters to continue serving communities impacted by disasters, as well as the veterans who volunteer their time to make a difference.
