LAS VEGAS, March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Behind a near-perfect offense and a lock-down defense, Team B2G won the prestigious 2010 Badger Sport Elite 7-on-7 Passing Tournament (presented by New Level Athletics) in dominant fashion, March 6th and 7th. Tournament MVP and QB Michael Bercovici (Taft H.S.) threw for touchdowns on 18 of his 19 drives.
Bercovici was especially impressive when completing deep passes to B2G receivers Nelson Spruce (Westlake), Brandon Taylor (Santa Monica), and Gabriel Marks (Venice), who all flashed their athleticism and technique.
The B2G defensive standouts were linebacker Matthew Lyons (Dorsey) and cornerback Thierry Nguema (Corona Santiago). Bercovici, Lyons, and Nguema made the tournament's "Hot 21" team. Receiver David Richards (Palmdale) and quarterback Jerry Neuheisel (Loyola), son of UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel, showed off their abilities as well.
The 16-member B2G All-Star Team was selected from participants of B2G Sports' 15-week Instinct Training™ (IT) off-season program, held in Los Angeles, the Inland Empire and Ventura County. The event featured 20 teams made up of current juniors and sophomores from across the Western United States. With this victory, Team B2G advances to the Badger/New Level 7-on-7 National Tournament this July, in Alabama.
The championship win was a major achievement for B2G Sports and its founders, Ron Allen and Henry Bell. "Winning this event is a great reward for our guys," said Bell. "They've all been working hard on their craft since January, and there is more work to come in order to be the best in their class."
The B2G mission statement is to create football-specific training in a competitive environment. B2G Sports has been perfecting that concept at the skill and linemen positions since 2000. Their success has been remarkable and well-documented. In February, 40 B2G athletes signed national letters of intent to play football at major colleges with plenty more to come in February 2011.
The coaching and exposure provided by B2G's Instinct Training has taken several young athletes from virtual obscurity into the realm of America's biggest recruits. Last year, defensive backs Joshua Shaw (Florida), Shaquille Richardson (UCLA), and Anthony Brown (USC) were all immersed in B2G Sports' training program. They were unknown prospects when they started. No longer under the radar, they're all graduating seniors, transitioning to the aforementioned elite college football programs.
Two B2G Instinct Showcase™ events will be held this spring: May 2nd in Los Angeles and May 16th in Ventura County. Scouts and media will be present to evaluate talent and 65 coveted invites will be on the line for B2G's Elite Camp held in June. "We expect this year's Instinct Showcase to be the most intense and competitive B2G has ever seen," said Bell. "I can't wait."
