Teachers' Insurance Plan of NJ Gives Over $90K to New Jersey Schools and Educational Organizations
RED BANK, N.J., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Teachers' Insurance Plan of NJ has donated over $90,000 to the New Jersey educational community since the inception of the company's Quotes for Cash program in 2007. The 2009-2010 school year generated over $42,000 in donations, a 69% increase over the prior year. The funds are being used for programs throughout the state to enhance the educational experience of New Jersey students and to support the educational community. Parts of the fund include scholarships for college-bound seniors and grants to support innovative teachers.
"Our business philosophy is to develop long term, mutually beneficial relationships with school districts throughout the state. Under our Quotes for Cash program we have the opportunity to do just that," stated Marc V. Buro, President of Teachers Auto Insurance Company of New Jersey. "Solidifying our commitment to education in the Garden State through our grant and scholarship programs is good for the teachers and students who participate in the programs and makes good business sense for our company," continued Buro.
For the 2009-2010 school year, the scholarship award winners were all high school seniors who excelled in academics as well as overall achievements. Out of 45 applicants, the following five students were awarded scholarships:
- Tess Lepore – Toms River High School East. Tess will attend New York University to study Law or Civil Engineering.
- Sharleen Phillips – Toms River High School East. Sharleen will attend Amherst University to study Political Science.
- Kristin Mathis – Williamstown High School. Kristin will attend Hofstra University.
- Carlie Himelman – Toms River High School South. Carlie will attend University of Maryland.
- Adam Fisher – Voorhees High School. Adam will attend The College of New Jersey.

Teachers' Insurance Plan of NJ also awarded grants to teachers for special programs in NJ schools. The following New Jersey schools were awarded grants from the Quotes for Cash program:
