Nominations are received throughout the season with one weekly winner per Carolina Panthers game. In the 2011 season, 13 outstanding educators were selected from a total of 572 nominations. Each nominee is recognized with gifts and a presentation at their school while the weekly winner received additional items ideal for classroom use.
All weekly winners had the opportunity to attend the December 11 game at which Rodney Orr of Heide Trask High School in Rocky Point, NC was chosen by FSIoffice and the Carolina Panthers as the Teacher of the Year. Mr. Orr has been teaching history and special education for 19 years while coaching a variety of junior varsity and varsity sports. Mr. Orr's longevity and continued dedication to the development of his students is inspiring.
