As a national sponsor for American Heart Association (AHA) My Heart. My Life, a program designed to change the way Americans think about their health, TE has raised more than $98,000 – almost tripling its 2010 contribution. The company was also recognized this summer as a platinum-level Start! Fit-Friendly Company by AHA's Start! initiative for helping employees eat better and move more.
"TE is proud to support AHA in their mission to encourage healthier lifestyles," says Matt Hardt, Vice President of Finance within TE's Communications and Industrial Solutions business. "Through our own nationwide walking challenges and sponsorship of AHA programs, our employees have taken great strides to improve their lifestyles while inspiring others to do the same. We are proud of them and excited to join fellow community supporters of the AHA at the walk in Harrisburg."
While TE employees across the nation are joining AHA in Start! Heart Walks, one of the company's largest presences will be at the upcoming 2011 Capital Region Heart and Stroke Walk where TE employees will walk to express their commitment towards a healthy heart. TE will give out "Start Walking" kits to help participants start their own healthy programs within their communities or workplaces.
TE's sponsorship in AHA My Heart. My Life and the 2011 Capital Region Heart and Stroke Walk are some of the company's many community engagement programs. To learn more about TE's corporate responsibility program, visit: http://www.te.com/responsibility/ .
