CHERRY HILL, N.J., March 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank®, today announced the launch of TD Connect, a new general purpose reloadable bank card that can be used wherever Visa debit cards are accepted. TD Connect is the perfect budgeting tool that only allows you to spend the funds loaded onto the card.
Anyone 18-years-old and over can walk into one of TD Bank's approximately 1,300 stores from Maine to Florida and sign up to receive a TD Connect Card, including those who are not an existing customer. TD requires a Social Security number, valid form of identification and a minimum deposit of $25 to sign up.
"TD Connect gives consumers an easy tool for budgeting their finances, allowing them to control how much they spend," said Tami Farrow, Head of Retail Deposit Payment Products, TD Bank. "TD Connect provides customers with a full banking experience. From the moment they receive their TD Connect Cards, they will have instant access to our 24-hour customer service and real people in our stores. No question or account is too small."
TD Connect customers will receive an active and personalized TD Connect card on the spot when they sign up. It can be used to access funds for purchases, make ATM withdrawals and pay bills online or by phone. Customers can conveniently load using a variety of options in our stores, online, by phone and direct deposit.
This launch marks the bank's second reloadable prepaid card. TD introduced TD Go in 2013, which allows teenagers to access funds loaded onto the card by their parents, and to only spend the balance on the card. Once activated, parents and teens can monitor spending online and receive email and text alerts on balances, transactions and other purchases. TD Go helps promotes financial literacy among younger cardholders.
In addition to providing a great budgeting tool for bank customers with a checking account, TD Connect also responds to the growing demand for reloadable prepaid cards among consumers who do not want a checking account.
"TD Connect empowers customers to better manage their finances," Farrow said. "For those who don't have a bank account, it also provides a safer alternative to cash and the ability to transact in an increasingly digital world."
