TD Bank Adds to Environmental Leadership Team
Diana Glassman and Bradford Peirce join TD and complete the new team
CHERRY HILL, N.J. and PORTLAND, Maine, Sept. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank®, announced an expansion of its environmental team. Having achieved numerous environmental accomplishments within the last two years such as opening the nation's first net-zero energy bank in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., the bank's expanded team is charged with extending TD's environmental strategy across multiple lines of business within the institution.
Driving employee engagement and encouraging TD Bank employees to be as green as TD's logo will be a top priority for Diana Glassman and Bradford "Brad" Peirce, the team's newest members.
As Head of Environmental Affairs for TD Bank, Glassman will work with the bank's top leaders to build out the environmental strategy. Her wide range of experience includes being the former head of the Americas for Zurich-based Credit Suisse's Environmental Business Group, and most recently providing strategic advice on energy and resource development issues through her own consulting firm. Glassman holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University. She splits her time between New York City and Cherry Hill, N.J.
Peirce, TD Bank's Environmental Program Manager, joined TD Bank from sister company TD Wealth and will be responsible for managing environmental programs with a particular emphasis on employee engagement. He will leverage TD Bank's leadership in green building design and construction, and the bank's environment-friendly operations to promote energy conservation, reduction of paper waste, and recycling among the bank's 26,000 employees.
Peirce holds a master's degree in sustainable tourism from George Washington University and was previously a private wealth manager and sustainability champion at another financial institution. At his previous employer, Peirce helped drive sustainability strategy by developing a paperless banking incentive program and engaging employees about the environment. He resides in Cherry Hill, N.J.
Under Glassman's and Peirce's leadership, the bank's new employee environmental engagement program will also encourage employees to volunteer for TD Bank's green community initiatives throughout its Maine to Florida footprint, such as the bank's upcoming TD Tree Days events happening Oct. 12 in Boston, Oct. 25 in Philadelphia and Oct. 27 in Jacksonville, Fla. TD Bank employees will be planting hundreds of needed trees in these three communities and the bank will also support the extended maintenance of the trees.
Rounding up the environmental team are four TD employees who have played pivotal roles in championing TD Bank's environmental leadership.
In her role as Chief Environment Officer of TD Bank Group, Karen Clarke-Whistler provides strategic advice and guidance, and will continue to map the enterprise-wide environmental initiative of TD Bank's parent company.
As Chairman of TD Bank's Green Council, Gerry Guidice is responsible for working with Clarke-Whistler and top executives in developing a long-term outlook for TD Bank's environmental strategy. And as Head of U.S. Real Estate, Guidice will continue to manage the bank's U.S. real estate portfolio, including retail and corporate architecture and design, engineering, construction, and facilities management.
Under Guidice's tenure, TD Bank's real estate group has made significant advancements in reducing the bank's carbon footprint. Since April 2010, his group has designed and constructed 36 TD Bank stores and offices that are targeting LEED certification, including the first net-zero energy bank in the U.S.
Scott Hite, Head of Architecture and Design for TD Bank Group, has enterprise-wide responsibility for both retail and corporate design standards in the U.S. and Canada. Hite also manages the real estate sustainability team that has designed and constructed TD Bank's new energy-efficient locations.
Jacquelynn "Jackie" Henke, TD Bank's Real Estate Green Strategy Officer, will continue to play a pivotal role on reducing the bank's environmental impact. Henke will focus on improving the operational performance of the bank's U.S. real estate portfolio and is currently developing an enterprise-wide green buildings program that will be implemented at retail locations and office buildings in the U.S. and in Canada.
