TCS Education System and Saybrook University Join Forces
CHICAGO and SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Chicago-based TCS Education System (TCS Ed), an entrepreneurial, nonprofit higher education system, and San Francisco-based Saybrook University are pleased to announce approval by their respective Board of Trustees to form a partnership.
Driven by a social change mission that unifies its entities and distinguishes TCS Ed from any other educational system today, the addition of Saybrook will expand the consortium to a total of four higher education institutions that span the nation. The partnership will allow Saybrook to focus on students while benefitting from TCS Ed expertise in areas that include admissions, marketing, online education services, finance, accreditation, compliance, and human resources.
Dr. Michael Horowitz, founding president of TCS Ed since 2009, said the addition of this institution furthers the system's mission and strengthens the network. "TCS Education System was founded to become a game-changer in higher education. Through our overarching mission and colleges, we create graduates—change agents—who positively impact local and global communities."
Dr. Mark Schulman, president of Saybrook University, said joining forces with TCS Ed will allow his institution to continue its four-decade goal of using graduate education to help individuals discover their life's work and excel in it. "Together we have the capacity to help students bring about much needed change: transforming the health care system, improving mental health services, leading new kinds of organizations."
Considered the world's premier institution for humanistic scholarship and practice, the addition of Saybrook University is in line with TCS Ed's long-term vision. Saybrook joins The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Pacific Oaks College & Children's School, and The Santa Barbara & Ventura Colleges of Law in the TCS Ed family.
"We value the collective history of how our organization has come together and is advancing an unprecedented vision in practitioner-based education," Dr. Horowitz added.
The partnership with Saybrook University is pending regulatory approval.
