TCPI Honors Bob Shapiro of PricewaterhouseCoopers at Annual Symposium
Shapiro is Second Recipient of TCPI Pillar of Excellence Award
WASHINGTON, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The Tax Council Policy Institute (TCPI) announced today that Bernard (Bob) Shapiro has been recognized with its 2010 Pillar of Excellence Award. This award was given based on Mr. Shapiro's excellence in the field of tax law and policy. It was presented at TCPI's annual Tax Policy and Practice Symposium being held in Washington, DC.
Mr. Shapiro, a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, is the second recipient of this award, which honors those individuals who consistently go above and beyond what is required of them. TCPI searches for an outstanding tax professional whose performance and activities help further the knowledge and understanding of the tax community at large.

Qualifications for the Pillar of Excellence Award include: playing a key role in tax policy, its impact on the tax business and national economy; participation in knowledge-sharing opportunities; and the demonstration of the overall understanding of tax policies among professionals, executives and policymakers.
A founder of PricewaterhouseCoopers' Washington National Tax Services and Managing Partner of the office for 25 years, Mr. Shapiro has made an indelible mark on the tax profession. He previously served as the Chief of Staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation of the U.S. Congress, as well as the Assistant Chief of Staff.
Mr. Shapiro has held a variety of positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers, including Deputy Vice Chairman of Tax, chairman of the Partner Affairs Committee, and member of the Firm's Policy Committee and Senior Partner Nomination Committee. Other roles include Adjunct Professor in the Graduate Tax Program at Georgetown University Law School and frequent speaking engagements at various institutes, conferences and other meetings.
