SHENZHEN, China, Nov. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- TCL joined hands with China Telecom to highlight 4G+ on the large screens that overlook New York's Times Square. They plan to officially release the Lewan 2 phone supported by 4G+ technology in Beijing on December 2, 2015.
The promotional message on the screens reads: "TCL& China Telecom, Faster 4G+ Speed". The concept of 4G+ was first announced by China Telecom's E-surfing 4G+ at the 2015 E-surfing Terminal Fair. 4G+, an improvement over current 4G technology, takes advantage of carrier aggregation technology to significantly increase internet speed as well as the transfer speed rate of user data. TCL's latest product, Lewan 2, comes equipped with the 4G+ technology.
TCL Communication Technology maintained a fast rate of growth in China over the last few years. As a global business, its operations in the US have also grown. The largest spurt of growth took place in 2010 when the firm entered the US market as a regional operator and established a close partnership with the leading three American telecommunications carriers, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint, providing it with strong advantages in operator channels as well as operational abilities and products. According to the financial results for the third quarter of 2015, TCL Communication Technology posted the highest gain in market share in North America, with total sales almost doubling to 10.6 million units. Sales of smart terminals grew 25 percent year on year to 4.6 million units for the quarter, while revenue grew 30 percent.
TCL's promotion with China Telecom on the large screens overlooking New York's Times Square served to demonstrate its strong technological competence as well as commitment to supporting the fast growth of the global telecommunications sector.
As TCL Chairman Li Dongsheng explained in a corporate promotion video in September, TCL's future success relies on success both in its domestic market in China as well as markets outside of its home turf. TCL will continue to invest in technology and promote self-innovation, while TCL Communication Technology will join hands with China Telecom to take advantage of 4G+ to spur industry expansion.
