TBN Features Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, Highlights Their Must-See Movie "Son of God"
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Hollywood power couple Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, producers of the runaway hit TV docudrama The Bible, have a new big-screen film, Son of God, slated for release at the end of the month and Matthew Crouch, Vice President of faith-and-family television leader Trinity Broadcasting Network, is endorsing it as the spring season's must-see movie.
Downey, star of the series Touched by an Angel, and Burnett, executive producer of such popular TV reality shows as Survivor, The Apprentice, The Voice, and Shark Tank, will be the special guests February 17th on TBN's popular Christian talk show Praise the Lord, telling the story behind the making of Son of God and sharing clips of the movie, scheduled for release in over 3,000 movie theaters February 28th.
"The excitement that Son of God is generating is unprecedented," said Crouch, "and for good reason. This is one of the best faith-based movies to come out in a long time, with a powerful message and incredible cinematography. We highly endorse it!"
The first big-screen film about Jesus since Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ ten years ago, Son of God tells the story of the Christ with poignancy and intense drama, following Jesus from his birth and earthly ministry through his suffering, death, and resurrection.
A number of high-profile pastors and Christian leaders are adding their enthusiastic endorsements, including Pastor Rick Warren who said: "I've seen most of the films about Jesus produced in the past 50 years. Son of God stands alone, in a class by itself. It is a powerful and poignant movie, the best Jesus movie I have ever seen." Similarly, Bishop T.D. Jakes said that "I believe the audience will be enthralled, encouraged, and inspired by the movie Son of God."
Matthew Crouch noted that not only are Downey and Burnett one of Hollywood's most influential couples, but they are also committed Christians, an unusual distinction for Hollywood elite. "Mark and Roma have made it clear that faith in Christ is what motivates them both personally and professionally," he said. "We are excited to welcome them to our show, to hear more about their new movie, and to find out how God is using them in Hollywood and beyond."
Tune in to TBN's Praise the Lord February 17th at 7 p.m. Pacific (9 p.m. Central, 10 p.m. Eastern), as Matthew and Laurie Crouch welcome Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, along with popular California pastor Erwin McManus, author of the new book The Artisan Soul.
