BELLEVUE, Wash., Sept. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the TBM Council and its Knowledge Partner, McKinsey & Company introduced a new and improved version of the Technology Business Management (TBM) Index™. The Council, a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and promoting best practices for managing the business of IT, teamed up with the global management-consulting firm to provide enterprise CIOs and IT leaders with a tool to measure and benchmark the current state of their business maturity.
Today's TBM Index has been updated to reflect the learnings and best practices derived from hundreds of TBM enterprise implementations. It's further enriched by new insights derived from a series of in-depth IT leader interviews conducted by McKinsey & Company in spring 2015. As a result, this more powerful Index will assess the state of TBM adoption and identify the potential value and tangible improvements that can be achieved through the implementation of TBM. With TBM, IT leaders are better able to communicate IT's value to the business, optimize IT costs and investments, plan efficiently and accurately, and transform the IT operating model.
"McKinsey is dedicated to equipping our clients with the tools and information they need to grow and lead their organization to success. TBM is a strategic discipline and an essential tool for all modern IT leaders," said Leandro Santos, Principal at McKinsey & Company. "We're proud to partner with the TBM Council on the relaunch of the TBM Index to provide our clients with yet another valuable tool to drive innovation."
After participating in the 20-minute TBM Index survey, IT leaders will be provided with an assessment of their TBM maturity against best practices, highlighting gaps and key areas for improvement. Additionally, the TBM Index now incorporates new dimensions organized around service orientation, operating model, data readiness, and financial impact.
"Many of today's successful IT leaders are still challenged to optimize the cost, consumption and value of the IT services they provide the business. Designed to meet the TBM Council's mandate of education, the TBM Index now provides these technology professionals with a framework to benchmark their performance and create a clear path forward to using data and analytics to manage the business of IT," said Chris Pick, President, TBM Council and CMO of Apptio.
The TBM Index is now available at no cost to enterprise business and IT leaders. For more information or to measure your own IT maturity, please visit www.TBMCouncil.org.
