Tax Tip: Tax Credits Available for Basement Waterproofing
Ohio State Waterproofing's basement waterproofing system becomes the only solution to meet energy standards and qualify for energy property credits
CLEVELAND, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Ohio State Waterproofing, the largest residential basement waterproofing contractor in Northeast Ohio, today announced that homeowners who install its Multi-Step System in 2010 will receive a tax credit for 30 percent of the cost, up to $1,500, as part of the Residential Energy Property Credit. The company is the only basement waterproofer qualified to offer this credit.
Ohio State Waterproofing's testing indicates up to a 25 percent reduction of air infiltration in the home after its Multi-Step System has been installed. The system deals with moisture problems and water seepage and improves air filtration by repairing cracks inside and outside the foundation wall and sealing and repairing the foundation floor. The service also includes applying sealers, coatings and caulk to areas in and around the basement, including windows.
"We are one of the few waterproofers who have a true solution by digging on the outside of the home to find and repair seal cracking at the most critical point – outside, above and below grade," said Nicholas DiCello, president and CEO, Ohio State Waterproofing. "This area is one of the most critical because a home can lose up to 15-30 percent of its energy from the foundation alone."
In addition to qualifying for the Residential Energy Tax Credit, the company's Multi-Step System addresses the building thermal envelope standards set by the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).
