Tasktop Technologies Named Best Employer by Small Business BC
Tasktop employees relish the opportunity to make a major impact on the software development industry within an invigorating, fun environment
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Tasktop Technologies (www.tasktop.com), creators of the Eclipse Mylyn project and a leader in Agile Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) integration and productivity, has been recognized as the "Best Employer" at the recent 8th Annual Small Business British Columbia Successful You Awards (http://www.successfulyou.ca/). The awards are a province-wide event that recognizes and celebrates the important contributions BC's entrepreneurs make to their local communities and global economy.
"We were thrilled with the quality of nominees and the array of communities they represented. In fact, the talent pool was so deep we even had a tie in one category," said George Hunter, CEO for Small Business BC. "The five award winners in 2011 are a group of innovative entrepreneurs who make up some of BC's finest small businesses."
Tasktop was founded as an off-shoot of Dr. Mik Kersten's Ph.D. thesis that he completed at the University of British Columbia in 2007. Together with co-founder Dr. Gail Murphy, a professor of information technology at UBC, Tasktop developed and launched the popular open source Eclipse Mylyn project that dramatically improves the productivity of software developers. This innovative work has enabled Tasktop to attract and retain some of the brightest technologists in British Columbia and around the world. In addition to its continued support of UBC and a commitment to sustainable transportation initiatives, it takes pride in an organizational culture that holds employees in the highest regard, and nurtures relationships and personal growth as core values.
"Tasktop offers sustainable action plans for employees to shine on a global level; they impact our community by bringing ground-breaking innovation to Vancouver and BC, which showcases our region as a fantastic place to live and do amazing work that benefits us all," said Suzanne Miles of Miles Employment Group and a judge for the awards. "They have a very strong model for attracting and retaining talent in a very niche marketplace. Tasktop employees love living in Vancouver and working for them, and the company can boast of having never lost an employee by adapting to the employees' changing environment to retain them. Tasktop demonstrates why Vancouver is the best place in the world to live and work, and they bring innovation to our city."
"The company's vision has always been to improve the quality of life of all knowledge workers by improving productivity and collaboration," said Neelan Choksi, President and COO for Tasktop Technologies. "This vision, which we are initially executing on for software developers, combined with challenging work is a key aspect of what attracts many of our employees to the company and what keeps them engaged. However, it is the open communication, community involvement and perks that make Tasktop more than just a place to work, but a family."
Winners in each award category were announced at the Awards Ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver on March 29, 2011. To see all of the winners and to learn more please visit: (http://www.successfulyou.ca/)
