Tasktop Names David Green Vice President of Engineering
Green to lead development of company's flagship product Tasktop Pro and Eclipse ALM integration services
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Tasktop Technologies (www.tasktop.com), creators of Eclipse Mylyn and a leading provider of task management for application lifecycle management (ALM), today announced David Green as its vice president of engineering. Green will be responsible for the delivery of Tasktop's line of products based on its revolutionary task-focused interface technology, and will lead associated development consulting and support services for the company.
"We are extremely pleased to have David join in our mission of transforming the productivity of software developers," said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies and creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project. "Open source is an amazing enabler of collaborations that bring together individuals with a shared vision of bringing about a disruptive change. David Green's contributions to our vision started when he engaged directly with the Mylyn project and contributed the great WikiText component that he continues to lead. We are thrilled that he will now bring his broad experience in developer tools to the rest of our open source and commercial offerings."
Prior to joining Tasktop, Green was a founding member of MAKE Technologies where he held the positions of CTO, vice president of technology and principal tools architect. At MAKE, Green pioneered a model-driven approach to legacy modernization on the Eclipse platform. Green is deeply involved in the Eclipse community as the creator and lead of Mylyn WikiText, a framework and tools for integrating wiki formatting into the Eclipse platform. In addition, Green has led the Eclipse Marketplace Client and Mylyn Connector Discovery, two initiatives that are making it dramatically easier for the community to find and install Eclipse extensions. Green is especially well known for his widely read blog Green's Opinion (http://greensopinion.blogspot.com/), apps for iPhone and Android, and speaking engagements at conferences such as JavaOne and EclipseCon.
"Since it was invented, Mylyn has profoundly impacted my effectiveness and productivity," said Green. "I'm pleased to announce that it has transformed my career as well. I'm thrilled to take the lead on the delivery of Tasktop's suite of enterprise products based on the Mylyn framework. It's very exciting to be part of a world-class team delivering transformational benefits to organizations adopting the task-focused paradigm."
Most recently, Tasktop announced the IBM Rational Team Concert Mylyn Connector. The new connector enables Mylyn's task-focused interface technology for Rational Team Concert, which is designed to improve developer productivity by displaying only the source code that is relevant for each work item. This reduces information overload and provides a mechanism for one-click multitasking and interruption recovery. This latest ALM connector complements Tasktop's existing Mylyn integration for Rational ClearQuest and both solutions have successfully completed the "Ready for IBM Rational Software" technical validation. In addition, the company was recently named to the SD Times 100 in the Tools and Frameworks category, (http://www.sdtimes.com/content/article.aspx?ArticleID=34383&page=3).
