Tasktop Extends Reach of HP ALM and HP Quality Center to Linux and Mac Developer Desktops and Gains HP Certification
Development teams can scale Agile across the enterprise through stronger Eclipse and Visual Studio integrations that expand the reach of HP ALM and HP Quality Center
VANCOUVER, British Columbia and SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Tasktop Technologies (www.tasktop.com), creators of the Eclipse Mylyn open source tools and a leader in Agile ALM automation and interoperability, today announced that its Tasktop Enterprise Eclipse IDE extends the use of HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and HP Quality Center to developers working on Mac and Linux operating systems. In addition, the company also announced tighter integrations with HP Agile Accelerator 5.0, improved SCM traceability and workflow support for the new HP Application Lifecycle Intelligence (ALI) offering, and new HP Certification for its products.
"For the first time developers using Linux and Mac OS desktops have the ability to access and update application defects and requirements in HP ALM and HP Quality Center. Additionally, HP Agile Accelerator release plans can now be accessed directly from the developers' IDE, with new support for developer-centric Scrum and Kanban task and story boards," said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies and creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project. "Tasktop's relationship with HP is helping bridge the gap between enterprise ALM and developer tools workflow, providing major productivity benefits for development teams and a new level of traceability and reporting for development managers via features such as HP's Application Lifecycle Intelligence (ALI)."
Tasktop connects HP ALM and HP Quality Center with the developer's home environments for improved productivity and traceability between HP ALM and more than 50 development management tools. New enhancements to the Tasktop Enterprise integrations for HP ALM include:
- HP ALM client for Linux and Mac: For the first time, HP ALM can be accessed from the Eclipse development environment or a rich desktop application on Linux and Mac platforms. Tasktop access includes productivity features such as offline support and desktop integration such as drag-and-drop attachments.
- IDE-based Agile planning and task board for HP Agile Accelerator: The Tasktop Agile Planner provides developers with an Eclipse IDE or cross-platform desktop client interface for accessing and updating HP Agile Accelerator plans. The planner includes an Agile task board that provides a visual and developer- centric representation of project progress. This provides developers with improved visibility into team Sprint status while making it easy for developers to keep plans up-to-date without leaving their home environment, the IDE.
- SCM Traceability for HP ALM and HP Application Lifecycle Intelligence (ALI): By tracking development activity, Tasktop automates traceability between the source code committed to repositories such as Subversion, and the corresponding defects and requirements that are identified and tracked in HP ALM. The new HP ALI solution is a key component to HP ALM, which provides enterprises with the real-time visibility and traceability between HP ALM and open source SCM. For developers, the task to change traceability information is navigable directly within the Eclipse development environment. Other stakeholders can view the code associated with a given requirement or defect from the HP ALI reports interface.
"With business processes growing in complexity, organizations require efficient ways to deliver applications and remain innovative," said Jonathan Rende, vice president and general manager of Applications, Software, HP. "The new integrations between HP and Tasktop provide application delivery teams with the necessary visibility across the application lifecycle to empower organizations to respond quickly to business changes and drive competitive advantage."
In addition, Tasktop Enterprise is now HP Certified to complement and improve the capability of HP ALM and HP Quality Center. HP Certification signifies that HP has tested Tasktop Enterprise against established criteria and verified its compatibility with HP Software. The certification process involves a significant amount of interactive integration testing by the HP Software Certification team in cooperation with Tasktop's development team.
