SAN ANTONIO, May 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro joined TASC executives to officially open the company's newly renovated San Antonio facility. The offices will host TASC's state-of-the-art cybersecurity laboratory, as well as a 70-person training center for TASC experts to earn professional certifications and stay ahead of emerging technologies.
"San Antonio has been a major base of operations for TASC since we first opened our doors here in 1996," says Rick Wagner, senior vice president of TASC's Defense Group. "Our investment in these facilities is just one example of the continued investments we make to meet the evolving challenges our customers face."
More than 100 TASC scientists and engineers in San Antonio are supporting government customers, including the Air Force, in a number of domains such as cybersecurity, bio-sciences and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. For example, a new, sophisticated solution developed by TASC in San Antonio delivers full-scale cybersecurity tests of industrial control systems in a closed-loop environment, enabling a comprehensive cybersecurity assessment without risk to normal systems operations.
"Protecting critical infrastructure systems such as power and water from cyber-attacks is a high priority for our nation's cities," says Shane Curtis, regional director of TASC in San Antonio. "Our new test laboratory is an isolated virtual environment that allows us to replicate network architectures to safely and efficiently assess vulnerabilities and develop the right cyber-protection strategies for civilian, defense and intelligence systems."
