HOUSTON, Dec. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- TAS Energy Inc., a global technology company providing clean, modular energy solutions for the power generation industry, announced today that it filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Stellar Energy Americas, Inc. The lawsuit alleges infringement of TAS Energy's latest turbine inlet chilling patent in conjunction with the request for proposal issued by Duke Energy Florida, Inc. for retrofit work at the Hines Energy Complex in Bartow, Florida.
The Complaint (Case No. 8:14-CV-03145—T30MAP), filed December 17, 2014 in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida (Tampa Division), alleges that Stellar Energy intends to install a turbine inlet chilling system that infringes on United States patent number RE44815 E. TAS is also seeking an injunction to prohibit Stellar Energy from installing the infringing system, as well as seeking enhanced damages for Stellar Energy's willful disregard of TAS Energy's patent rights, and reasonable attorneys' fees and costs.
"We know that Stellar Energy is aware of our patents. TAS Energy has a policy of protecting its intellectual property rights and I feel confident that we will successfully defend our intellectual property in this case," stated Steve Rohr, General Counsel of TAS Energy.
