Taos Ski Valley Raises Minimum Wage to $10 per Hour
Wage increases emphasize ongoing commitment to highest quality personnel
TAOS SKI VALLEY, N.M., Sept. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Taos Ski Valley today announced that it will raise its minimum wage to $10 per hour, making it one of the country's highest paying ski resorts for entry-level employees. Taos Ski Valley made the decision to raise its minimum wage to ensure it continues to recruit and retain the best ski, snowboard, instruction, operations and hospitality personnel in the industry.
"There's nothing more important to us than the people at Taos Ski Valley," said TSV CEO Gordon Briner. "The mountain is spectacular, but it really is the spirit of Taos Ski Valley that makes us unique among all resorts nationwide, and that is embodied in our staff. This wage increase will help us compete for the best talent nationwide. Also, it's important to note $10 is the entry wage and most staffers actually earn more due to experience and seniority."
Taos Ski Valley typically hires hundreds of people at the start of each season to help with lift operations, ski and snowboard school, ticket sales, operations and hospitality. When fully employed, Taos Ski Valley is one of the largest private employers in the entire state of New Mexico.
"As we continue to invest in enhancing the resort with new amenities and experiences, having the best people will continue to be a top priority," continued Briner. "We plan to continue the legacy of Taos Ski Valley being one of the best places to work, visit and live in the industry, and in New Mexico."
