Tanks-A-Lot, Inc. Leverages Geoforce GPS Tracking to Manage Global Oilfield Rental Fleet From Alaska to Africa
Leading offshore equipment provider taps technology to achieve efficiencies, facilitate growth from the Gulf of Mexico to international markets
DALLAS, March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Tanks-A-Lot, Inc., a leading provider of rental equipment for the offshore oil and gas industry, is leveraging the Geoforce asset tracking and management solution to enhance operating efficiency and provide valuable "added value" benefits to its customers. Louisiana-based Tanks-A-Lot is using the technology to deliver best-in-class service to some of the world's largest oil and gas operators. The Geoforce deployment is also helping the company to manage expansion beyond its core Gulf of Mexico market to offer rental equipment and services in Alaska and Trinidad.
Locating and managing millions of dollars worth of equipment in the oilfield has always been a challenge. It's a 24/7 operation with valuable assets constantly in motion across drilling rigs, platforms, shore bases, marine vessels, and trucks. Prior to Geoforce, inventory was typically managed manually and operations personnel were forced to make educated guesses concerning the specific locations of assets. Now, utilizing Geoforce's GPS tracking devices and powerful web-based asset management platform, Tanks-A-Lot is able to locate equipment worldwide with the click of a mouse.
Perhaps more importantly, customers of Tanks-A-Lot are able to access this information and manage equipment online as well. "Our mission at Tanks-A-Lot is to provide world-class equipment and service to the oil and gas industry," said AJ Cannata, President, Tanks-A-Lot, Inc. "We have always been quick to innovate and incorporate new technologies and processes that enable us to best serve our customers. The Geoforce system streamlines an otherwise cumbersome process and enables us to provide our customers with visibility and intelligence into their assets, which is very valuable to their operations."
"Prior to deploying the Geoforce system to automate the process of asset tracking and management processes, we were forced to manually track our equipment in the field, which wasn't sustainable, particularly as we expanded into new geographies," said Joey Cannata, Operations Manager, Tanks-A-Lot, Inc. "We needed a solution that could simultaneously help us manage our growth into global markets reaching from Alaska to Africa and achieve internal operational efficiencies. Geoforce has helped us achieve these objectives."
How Geoforce Works for Tanks-A-Lot, Inc.
Intrinsically safe GPS tracking devices transmit position data to secure data centers one to four times per day using satellite communication networks and Geoforce's Web-based software does the rest. Each asset's current and historical location is shown on Google Maps along with offshore lease block information. Virtual boundaries are set to generate e-mail alerts based on movement and inventory at multiple locations can be managed automatically. Tanks-A-Lot also uses the software to manage lifting compliance related tasks for each asset such as mandatory visual inspections, load testing, magnetic particle inspection, and more.
