DETAILS:
In light of several recent changes regarding I-9 compliance, E-Verify and immigration enforcement, many organizations are unsure how these developments will affect their payroll operations. As U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has greatly expanded its capacity to perform I-9 audits, there has been a large increase in notice of inspections (NOIs) and fines for employers.
During the educational session, "New Directions in Immigration Enforcement", Dave Fowler, vice president of Product Strategy for TALX and chair of the APA Subcommittee on Immigration, will join Yvette LaGonterie, chief of Outreach, Verification Division for Citizenship and Immigration Services; Phillip Warfield, unit chief of Worksite Enforcement for Homeland Security Investigations; and Seema Nanda, acting deputy special counsel for the U.S. Department of Justice, to help employers understand the implications of these changes and how they affect the way companies screen and hire job candidates.
Attendees of this informative discussion will learn about ICE's future enforcement priorities and explore the E-Verify self-check and RIDE programs to gain an understanding of how these tools can be used to ensure compliance with the latest I-9 regulations.
