SALT RIVER PIMA-MARICOPA INDIAN COMMUNITY, Ariz., Aug. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Talking Stick Resort is proud to announce that it is the recipient of two prestigious awards from the Arizona State Florist Association. The property was awarded the "Public Awareness Award" for promotion and use of fresh flowers in a creative and professional manner.

Additionally, its on-site florist, Christine Price was named the People's Choice "Designer of the Year." This marks the third time Price has won this award in as many years. Both were given to the property at the association's annual Arizona State Florist Association Expo & Luncheon on July 28.

"Talking Stick Resort is independently owned and operated by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, and as a tribal enterprise we recognize the importance of combining elements of nature within our property," said Steve Gerken, senior director of hospitality for Talking Stick Resort. "Our floral arrangements showcase our deference to the environment, while also adding a character and style that our competitors don't have."

The Arizona State Florists Association, based in Tucson, works to build a stronger, healthier floral industry and a positive image within Arizona communities. Its "Public Awareness Award" is given to locations with unique designs that are fresh and reflect the beauty and importance of fresh flowers in daily life. Past winners of the award include Phoenix Home and Garden Magazine and the Phoenix Art Museum.

The floral arrangements at Talking Stick Resort are the concept and design of on-site florist, Christine Price. An awarding-winning florist, Price was honored as the People's Choice Designer of the Year for an astounding three years in a row. Winning the award in 2011, 2012 and again this year. She has a master certification in floral design and a background in floral art.

With Talking Stick Resort since it opened in 2010, Price utilizes her talents to create the beautiful displays throughout property in its restaurants, concierge and other common area. Her beautiful designs also give special events a one-of-a-kind style, and are available as complements to weddings, meetings and other special occasions on the property.
