KENDALL PARK, N.J., Oct. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Tabtor Math™ (www.tabtor.com), the world leader in personalized, tablet-based math tutoring, has grabbed first place in the North American competition for the Global EdTech Startup Awards (GESA). Tabtor Math will now go on to compete against nine other global finalists to be named "The Most Promising EdTech Startup in 2015."
The annual GESA competition (www.globaledtechawards.org) recognizes the world's most promising young companies in education technology. Nominees are judged on five criteria. The product or service: (1) answers an actual pain; (2) has an innovative pedagogical aspect; (3) has an outstanding user experience; (4) has growth potential; and (5) has a sustainable business model.
"After just a few years and thousands of paying subscribers in 12 countries, we are extremely honored to be recognized from among 170 nominees for our innovative approach to math education that blends tablet-based learning with personalized tutoring and advanced analytics to make thinking visible," announced Raj Valli, founder and CEO of PrazAs Learning, the company behind Tabtor Math. "At a time when technology is upending traditional best practices in education, we couldn't be more thrilled that Tabtor Math has been recognized as the best of the best in North American edtech."
The GESA is an initiative led by a group of prominent education innovation organizations from across the world, including EDGE edtech, MindCET, Cengage Learning, WayraUK, InncubatED, Edugild, and Viling Venture Partners, among others. The global finalists will be highlighted during National Education Week events in New York City from December 15-17 (www.nationaledweek.com).
"The GESA competition is designed to attract and promote the most innovative growing companies in the worldwide edtech community. We are looking for disruptors in the space--companies offering the potential for groundbreaking learning solutions, which are strong characteristics of the Tabtor Math platform," said Ashantha Kaluarachchi, director of EDGE, an edtech accelerator that is the GESA 2015 partner in North America.
