Syska Hennessy Group MENA Providing Engineering Expertise to Dubai's 3D Printed Office of the Future
Supporting the City's Goal to Become Global Hub for 3D Printing
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, June 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Syska Hennessy Group, Inc., a global consulting, engineering and commissioning firm, is announcing its continued involvement in making the city of Dubai home to the first 3D printed building project, Office of the Future.
As previously announced in June 2015, Dubai was planning to build the world's first fully functional 3D printed building in the world, called "The Office of the Future." Earlier this month, Dubai Holding, one of the city's largest conglomerates, stated its plans to build the International Centre for 3D Printing in Dubai's Industrial City, which will provide infrastructure as well as research centers and laboratories for testing materials used in 3D printing, a technology that's transforming the design and construction industry. In addition, Dubai Holding identified its goal to have 25 percent of the city's buildings using 3D printing technology by the year 2030.
Syska Hennessy is collaborating on this project with 3D printing technology firm WinSun Global and International architecture and engineering firms Gensler and Thornton Tomasetti, providing systems engineering consulting services for the "Office of the Future Project" which is now a reality. The firm is participating in numerous long-term research and development facets on how to design and embed MEP system within the 3D printing process which will shape the future of 3D printing technology.

3D printing offers a numerous benefits to users, including faster speed to occupation, enhanced quality control and other options ranging from minimal utility connections to off-grid locations. Experts estimate that 3D printing technology can reduce the production time of buildings by 50 to 70 percent, reduce labor costs by 50 to 80 percent, and can save between 30 and 60 percent of construction waste.
