ANAHEIM, Calif., April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The nation's largest synthetic grass distributor, Synthetic Grass Warehouse (SGW), is calling on the state's top elected official for a resolution to California's drought in hopes to bring attention to the environmentally-friendly solution the company offers to residents and businesses across the country.
SGW is the exclusive distributor of Everlast and TigerTurf, the highest quality and most technologically advanced synthetic grass on the market. Completely American-made, synthetic grass requires no maintenance and absolutely no watering. For every one-square-foot of grass, 55 gallons of water are saved, according to the Southern Nevada Water Authority. SGW's products are intended for homes, businesses, parks, sports fields, putting greens and pet runs.
"If everyone in California switched to synthetic grass, eliminating just the need to water our lawns, we would no longer be in a drought. We need to welcome this idea in today's day and age as droughts are becoming more and more severe. Besides, there is absolutely no maintenance with synthetic grass and it has the same look and feel as real grass, so why wouldn't you make the switch if you could?" said Victor Lanfranco, co-founder of SGW. "People are stuck between a rock and a hard place because most HOA's require residents to water their lawn, while the state is simultaneously reducing their water usage. On top of that, some HOA's don't even allow homeowners to install synthetic grass, so what do they do? This is where we need our governor to step in."
More than 50 percent of the state's water costs are dedicated to watering natural grass and many states across the nation are placing more water restrictions in residential and commercial areas due to the current drought (Southern Nevada Water Authority). On the contrary, many HOA's require a green, healthy lawn, but with the current water reductions, residents aren't able to follow HOA rules without synthetic grass. An article posted April 13 explains that Sacramento residents are banned from installing synthetic grass on their front lawns, similar to many other areas in California.
In a meeting held last Wednesday, April 8, Governor Jerry Brown spoke to roughly 30 agricultural, environmental and urban water agency leaders to learn how the drought is affecting them and to brainstorm new ways to conserve water. In an effort to find a solution, Synthetic Grass Warehouse calls on Governor Jerry Brown to propose a law where synthetic grass is both allowed and encouraged anywhere – HOA's, front yards, backyards, business, etc.
