Synology® Announces the Official Launch of DiskStation Manager (DSM) 3.2
REDMOND, Wash., Sept. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Synology America Corp. is pleased to announce the official release of its latest DiskStation Manager operating system, DSM 3.2, marking the end of a productive beta cycle. The beta program attracted more than 60,000 downloads, and went into official release on September 6. The new release offers a number of improvements targeting business and creative users.
"This latest release sees continued improvements and enhancements to an already award-winning interface," said Doug Self, Product Marketing Manager at Synology America Corp. "From management and centralization features, to the improvements for Mac users, this release takes a great software product and makes it even better."
DSM 3.2 offers centralized network resources to maximize efficiency. Among these features is LDAP support, whether as a client in an existing domain, or as a directory server in a new domain. The Syslog server package allows administrators to centralize logging for their networks. The new Remote Folder service allows aggregating network CIFS shares under a single access point. Virtual Drive allows users to mount ISOs for efficient network installations.
The Mac-friendly DSM 3.2 improves interoperability with Mac OS X Lion with an upgraded AFP engine. The new release also works with Apple's latest Time Machine iteration, assuring Mac users that their backups are current. Additionally, Surveillance Station now offers full support for Mac users in Safari, requiring no additional monitoring software.
For administrators and managers on the run, Synology offers an improved remote experience with DSM mobile, providing management features to smartphone and tablet users. CalDAV allows iCal for Mac and iOS devices, and Mozilla Thunderbird® users to sync their calendars, even on the go. Support for Google Cloud Print® allows printing from smart phones without requiring drivers. AirPrint® support is improved to include multi-function printers.
