Synergy Between Just Energy and Salvation Army Warms Hearts and Homes This Holiday
CHICAGO, Dec. 23, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- A generous donation from Just Energy will support The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division's Share the Warmth Fund, an initiative that supports Greater Chicago citizens seeking assistance with energy bill payments. The $10,000 donation was presented to Major Koehler, Captain of The Salvation Army St. Charles (Tri-city) Corps community center, by Just Energy representatives.
To add to the corporate donation and kick off the season of giving, representatives of Just Energy in the Illinois office also held a raffle. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the St. Charles (Tri-city) Corps community center. The money was raised by personal contributions and a matching corporate donation from Just Energy. This particular donation will support local families in dire need of food and clothing.
"We are passionate about sustaining our ongoing support of the Share the Warmth Fund as it continues to assist struggling citizens," said Ken Hartwick, President and CEO of Just Energy. "Our hope is that this personal and corporate donation, combined with the relief efforts of The Salvation Army, will give families the help they need this holiday."
With the support from organizations including Just Energy, the Share the Warmth Fund offers participating families access to a promising and accommodating program. Since 2000, The Salvation Army provided more than $7 million in grants and more than 10,000 families benefit from the program throughout the Chicago area.
"The donation from Just Energy will assist approximately one hundred families this winter," said Deborah Terrell, Director of Corporate Relations of The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division. "The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division thanks Just Energy for the continued and much-needed support."
