SXSWedu Announces Expanded Program for Fifth Anniversary
New elements for 2015 include the Closing Program, Summits and more
AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The SXSWedu Conference and Festival announces an expanded program for the fifth anniversary event, taking place March 9-12, 2015 in Austin, Texas.
Established in 2011, SXSWedu has grown from a regional event celebrating Texas education to an internationally acclaimed platform for innovative action in the future of teaching and learning. Celebrating five years in 2015, SXSWedu has unveiled new elements focusing on deep audience engagement and highlighting the unique convergence of creative ideas and voices at the event.
For the first time in 2015, SXSWedu attendees will have the opportunity to explore education through the lens of music, film and interactive technologies at the Closing Program on Thursday, March 12, 2015. This special single-stage program will feature Bob Santelli (The Grammy Museum), Mimi Ito (The University of California, Irvine), Goldie Hawn (The Hawn Foundation) and Sal Khan (Khan Academy) for an engaging series of presentations and discussions on the power of education to inspire and empower.
In addition to a dynamic view of the education landscape, the SXSWedu community can explore more intimate and collaborative engagements with the new SXSWedu Summit program, which joins the roster of expanded learning opportunities at the event. Summits provide attendees with longer and more in depth opportunities for learning and collective exploration of educational challenges through customized programming. Summits feature a variety of concentrations, including programs from the Buck Institute for Education, NPR Ed, Edcamp ATX, the Gates Foundation, Student Voice and more.
"Our community wants more in-depth and collaborative learning experiences," said Ron Reed, SXSWedu Executive Producer. "With their help and support, attendees will benefit from an expanded selection of interactive learning opportunities, and experience education in a way that is unique to SXSWedu and the SXSW spirit."
This year's event will also see thought-provoking insights from newly announced keynote speaker Emily Pilloton (Project H Design) as well as featured speakers Ann Cotton (Camfed) and Guy Kawasaki (Canva).
