SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Swyft Inc., a leader in automated retail technology, announced its strategic acquisition of ZoomSystems' Japanese automated retail store network, successfully transitioning all stores onto the Swyft software platform. Through this acquisition, Swyft now operates store networks for NTT Communications (NTT), the world's largest communications company by revenue, and Proactiv, a leading global skincare brand. Swyft location partnerships include Japan's largest real estate company (Mitsui Fudosan), the largest retailer in Japan (Aeon), 7&i Holdings, Ario and the largest airports in Japan (Narita, Haneda, KIX and CentralAir). Swyft also contracted Omron for Japanese payment processing and Photo-me for nation-wide maintenance. Sagawa provides replenishment services.
Japan is a strategic market within the vending industry with more vending machines and double the US spend per capita. It is the world's third largest economy, is quality and convenience oriented, has high real-estate and labor costs, and high acceptance of electronic payments. Swyft's Japanese store network spans from Hokkaido in the North to Okinawa in the South, with most stores in the major cities of Tokyo and Osaka. These SwyftStores are all in busy, high profile locations.
Gower Smith, CEO of Swyft and founder of ZoomSystems, said, "Japan is the most competitive vending market in the world where trust and relationships matter. Our partners were the key to the successful takeover of the ZoomSystems Japan business with no negative impact to consumers or our brand clients. We developed Swyft's cloud platform in a few years - at ZoomSystems it took us a decade and tens of millions of dollars. We have the best engineering and technical talent in the automated retail industry and we intend to continue leveraging cloud collaboration between our USA, China and Japan teams to set new standards for the automated retail industry."
Swyft has appointed Mr. Akitoshi Kanoda as General Manager of Swyft Japan K.K. Mr. Kanoda formerly held executive positions at Disney, UPS, Bo Concepts and ZoomSystems.
