TEMPE, Ariz., May 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Swimlane today announced it has been named one of 25 semifinalists by the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) in its Spring 2015 Arizona Innovation Challenge (AIC), a bi-annual business plan competition that awards $3 million annually to talented entrepreneurs.

Each year, the ACA awards $1.5 million in the spring and $1.5 million in the fall to the most qualified, innovative startups and early-stage companies. Recipients receive up to $250,000 in capital to grow their businesses, advancing innovation and technology commercialization opportunities in Arizona.
Swimlane was recognized in the "IT Software" category for its innovative automated security operations platform. Swimlane centralizes an organization's security alerts, alarms and incidents to automate resolution and deliver a better ROI on current and future security investments.
A panel of judges evaluated 138 applications submitted by companies based in Arizona, California, Massachusetts, Texas and Wisconsin. Swimlane was assessed on a set of criteria that not only singled out technology potential, but also included marketing strategy, quality of management team and economic impact.
"Our ability to prioritize alerts, remediate threats and improve the operational performance of an organization by automating the implementation of security controls has filled a market void," said Swimlane co-founder Cody Cornell. "To be selected as a semifinalist by the ACA validates that we are developing the right technology with the right business plan and management team to succeed."
The ACA awards program continues to be among the many opportunities available to innovators, which have made Arizona a top hub for entrepreneurial activity and startup success. The ACA will name its Spring 2015 Arizona Innovation Challenge finalists in June and the winners later that same month.
