SweetSpot Diabetes Care, Inc. Raises Initial Funding
Investors include Experienced Entrepreneurs from Portland, Silicon Valley
PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- SweetSpot Diabetes Care, Inc. closed a round of initial financing from individuals including a leading diabetes device innovator and several successful entrepreneurs, it announced today.
"It's gratifying to find investors who believe in what you are doing, especially in today's environment. We ended up with a mix of Portland and Silicon Valley-based entrepreneurs I could not have more respect for," said SweetSpot Diabetes CEO Christopher Logan.
Investor Dick Sass is founder and former CEO of iSense, which developed a minimally invasive continuous glucose monitor to help people with diabetes live longer and better. iSense was acquired by Bayer Healthcare's Diabetes Care Division in 2008. Mr. Sass' previous company microHelix went public in 2001.
Also participating in the funding are Bill Trenchard and Alan Lefkof. Bill Trenchard is CEO of Readyforce, a venture-funded startup in Menlo Park, CA focused on demand labor. He was previously CEO of LiveOps and a managing director at idealab!. He also founded and served as CEO of Jump Networks, Inc., which was acquired by Microsoft Corporation in 1999.
Alan Lefkof serves as a Corporate VP and General Manager at Motorola and was formerly CEO of Netopia, which was purchased by Motorola in 2007. Mr. Lefkof joins the SweetSpot Diabetes Board of Directors.
