SweetSpot Diabetes Care, Inc. Forms Advisory Board
Experts, Former ADA Chair Rally to Advise Innovative Diabetes Data Technology Company
PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- SweetSpot Diabetes Care, Inc. has convened a Board of Advisors to guide its growth as a health data platform focused on diabetes, the Company announced. The first four members are Michael A. Greene, JD - a past national chairman of the American Diabetes Association; Nate Heintzman, PhD - a University of California Assistant Professor; Will Alaynick, PhD - a researcher at the Salk Institute and celebrated computer technologist Rael Dornfest.
"For our advisory board we want people with bold vision who know what it takes and what it means to do breakthrough work. Considering their accomplishments and current activities I know these four will push us to deliver services that change the game for researchers, clinicians and ultimately families dealing with diabetes," said SweetSpot Diabetes CEO Christopher Logan.
Attorney Mike Greene served as chair of the national board of directors of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) from 1994-1995. Beginning as a volunteer for the ADA in 1982, he started the association's legal advocacy and political action committee, protecting people with diabetes from discrimination. He was awarded the Dr. Charles H. Best Award for Distinguished Service to the American Diabetes Association and the Wendell Mayes, Jr. Award for Outstanding Service in the Cause of Diabetes.
Biomedical Scientist Nate Heintzman splits his time between the lab and the great outdoors. As Chairman of InsulinDependence – a non-profit that inspires people with diabetes to fully engage with fitness and nature – he is destroying the notion that kids with diabetes can't play and compete along with their friends. As an Assistant Professor at the University of California in San Diego he develops technologies that can support and protect people with diabetes as they live full and active lives.
Salk Researcher Will Alaynick's potent skill set includes genomics, bioinformatics and visualization. His experience includes ten years studying endocrinology at the molecular level and a wide variety of collaborative research and development projects that have in common an audacious vision for transforming medical science.
Computer technologist Rael Dornfest chairs the O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference in addition to his day job as a key engineer at Twitter. He is a constant stream of creation and has authored numerous books and articles, written several popular software programs and invented even more underlying technologies such as languages, protocols and widgets that other technologists build on.
"Researchers, doctors and patient advocacy groups are all crying out for the same thing right now," said former ADA Chair Michael Greene. "They need better tools to make life easier and more predictable for people with diabetes. I am very excited to be joining with advisory board members who share SweetSpot's vision for improving diabetes care through innovative data collection, management, and analytic systems."
