JUNO BEACH, Fla., Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Florida Power & Light Company is marking Energy Awareness Month, which started today, by helping 1,000 small-and medium-sized businesses in Florida shape-up and BEE-healthy. FPL's Business Energy Evaluation (BEE) is a first step for a business to get "Energy Fit." FPL energy efficiency experts will meet with business customers, who already have electric bills that are among the lowest in the state, and develop customized BEEs showing them ways to save even more -- in most cases five percent or more on lighting and cooling costs.

"Energy Awareness Month offers us a great opportunity to build buzz around the BEEs and partner with our business customers," said Marlene Santos, FPL's vice president of Customer Service. "Our small-and medium sized business customers have electric rates that are well below the national average and a BEE can sweeten their savings." The personalized, cost-saving recommendations are tailored to each business and will answer businesses energy use questions, including:
- Where do energy dollars go?
- How can energy bills be reduced?
Once the results of a BEE are calculated, FPL experts help customers set goals, evaluate options and implement the improvements, starting with low-cost or no-cost options. The BEE is especially recommended when a business is planning improvements, expansions, or building new facilities. Businesses that want to be part of the buzz can schedule their own BEE at www.FPL.com/BEE.
