Sutter Home contributes $1 to breast cancer charity for each capsule received through the end of the year
ST. HELENA, Calif., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Sutter Home Family Vineyards today announced the renewal of its annual Sutter Home for Hope program. Since 2001, Sutter Home has been committed to supporting breast cancer research through the consumer-driven Capsules for Hope® program and has donated more than $800,000 toward breast cancer awareness. Capsules for Hope encourages Sutter Home consumers to mail in capsules from any bottle of Sutter Home wine in the 750ml or 1.5L size, and the winery will donate $1* for every foil capsule received to City of Hope, one of the nation's leading research, treatment and education centers of cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Sutter Home provides postage-paid, pre-addressed envelopes at in-store displays for consumers to send in collected capsules. Pink ribbon art has been added to Sutter Home bottle labels to help consumers identify an easy way to contribute to the fight against breast cancer.
"Every October, I'm always thrilled to start the Sutter Home for Hope campaign. It's inspiring to see our loyal consumers rally around a cause as critical as breast cancer," said Wendy Nyberg, senior director of marketing for Sutter Home. "We launched this initiative when one of our winery owners, Vera Trinchero Torres, became a survivor of breast cancer. We all have had breast cancer hit close to home so we want to make a difference by supporting research for this disease."
Furthermore, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Sutter Home and Colavita have joined forces to help women share knowledge and become more aware of breast cancer through the Night of Hope program. Women can go online to SutterHome.com and order a complimentary Night of Hope kit, which provides all the essentials for hosting an educational party for their friends and family. Each kit will include a Sutter Home for Hope ChicoBag™, wine glass tags, bracelets, buttons, and a corkscrew.
To additionally raise awareness, Sutter Home is launching a simple Twibbon application for consumers to add a pink Sutter Home capsule to their Twitter and/or Facebook profile pictures. Go to SutterHome.com between October 1 and October 31, 2010 and download the Twibbon application. Then add the Sutter Home capsule to a Facebook or Twitter profile picture using the instructions on the site. Sutter Home will donate $1* for every twibbon download during this time period.
"After nine great years, our consumers have come to expect the Sutter Home for Hope campaign each fall, many of them saving capsules in honor of a loved one or sometimes themselves. It reminds us all of how many lives can be affected," explains Nyberg. "The promotion gets our consumers involved and makes them a part of our efforts to end breast cancer."
The Capsules for Hope program appears in stores nationwide and capsules are accepted through December 31, 2010. Visit sutterhome.com for more information.
*Disclaimer: Sutter Home will donate a combined maximum of $100,000 to City of Hope for the mail-in and twibbon capsule promotions.
