Sutherland Furniture® Introduces New Furniture Collections for Spring 2018

DALLAS, Feb. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Sutherland Furniture®, the preeminent provider of luxury outdoor furniture, has announced new collections for Spring 2018. The lineup includes partnerships with two celebrated international designers, Vincent Van Duysen and Christophe Delcourt. In addition, Sutherland is debuting four new offerings from the brand: Versailles tables, Sag Harbor Lounge Chair, Gallery Table, and new Sutherland umbrella styles.

The Franck Collection boasts nine new pieces created by esteemed Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen. The distinguished AD100 designer's collaboration keeps with Sutherland's history of partnering with leading designers and emphasizes Van Duysen's precise architectural aesthetic. The Franck Collection accents table styles by utilizing Belgian Bluestone, a Van Duysen signature material. The collection also showcases Sutherland's performance properties, featuring an innovative dual-movable back chaise with integrated side table.

Speaking to his Franck Collection designs, Van Duysen references his inspiration as the work of French interior decorator Jean-Michel Frank. "The pure and essential, but at the same time very elegant and sensual, language of the 1930's is a reference we use very often in our interior projects," explains Van Duysen. "I want to create simple, timeless, and refined objects that fit both classic and modern environments. Sutherland has the ability to translate this idea of a domestic interior feeling to the outdoor environment, which I very much admire."

French designer Christophe Delcourt has an exciting new partnership with Sutherland Furniture as well. Delcourt's unique pieces complement Sutherland Furniture's materials. Delcourt offers mixed material styles that create contrast and depth. Many pieces also feature bullnose edge designs that result in sensual looks with European élan.

"I am very much inspired by the materials, the know-how, and the way a piece of furniture is constructed," says Christophe Delcourt. "I always focus on joinery and how furniture is built, which make it timeless. This is always the beginning and the inspiration for unique pieces."

Sutherland Furniture is also debuting Versailles, a new design by longtime collaborator Joe Doyle of John Hutton™. Inspired by 1600's Parquet de Versailles, the two outdoor table styles combine the classical geometric motif with a contemporary edge and superior construction in 20 standard color options.

The Sag Harbor Lounge Chair is also an homage to past design. With updated and durable materials - aluminum and polyethylene resin weaving - it is perfect for extended outdoor use. The Sag Harbor Lounge Chair was inspired by a Francis Mair midcentury chair. The fluid design is driven by slender frame and woven texture, a perfect marriage of form and function.

In addition, Sutherland Furniture introduces the Gallery Table. The 132-inch long Gallery Table, designed by David Lucas and featuring an inset piece of Carrara Marble with a teak and aluminum base, can seat up to 12 guests.

Five new umbrella styles, carefully crafted in the USA, also join the 2018 catalog. The umbrellas showcase a range of canopy sizes in four shapes like the 8-foot square canopy and striking 16-foot crescent canopy design. Sutherland has also designed a stunning 11-foot octagonal umbrella with advanced cantilever system, which can shade a large area from a distance.

About Vincent Van Duysen
Vincent Van Duysen is a designer and architect born in Lokeren, Belgium. He attended the Architecture Institute Saint-Lucas in Ghent and founded his design studio in Antwerp in 1990. He emphasizes design theory as a merge of architecture, interior design and product design. He embraces emotional aspects of architecture, with a focus on spatial perception, which he believes essential. Van Duysen uses tactile materials to create precise designs, and celebrates proportions and light while honoring functionality, durability and comfort.
