PARSIPPANY, N.J., Dec. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, Wyndham Worldwide (NYSE: WYN), one of the world's largest hospitality companies, received New Jersey's 2015 Governor's Environmental Excellence Award (GEEA), in the Healthy and Sustainable Businesses category for its innovative and sustainable practices at its headquarters location in Parsippany, NJ. This is the first time the Company has received the award.

The GEEA program recognizes outstanding environmental performance, program and projects throughout the state. The award honor individuals, businesses, institutions, communities, organizations, educators, youths and others who have made significant contributions to environmental protection in New Jersey. Since its establishment in 2000, 130 GEEA winners have been recognized for their accomplishments.

The Wyndham Worldwide headquarters buildings have received the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) designations for Corporate Interiors and Existing Building – Operations and Maintenance. Throughout the entire design and construction of the campus buildings, Wyndham Worldwide incorporated specific strategies and features that resulted in significant energy savings.

A recognized leader in sustainability, the Wyndham Worldwide campus was recently named one of New Jersey's most energy efficient office buildings. Wyndham Worldwide earned 99 out of 100 for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) ENERGY STAR rating for its corporate headquarters offices, and is the state's highest ranked building in 2015*. In addition, its 22 Sylvan location earned 98 out of 100, a distinction it shares with just one other office building in the state. This achievement also places its corporate offices among the top three percent of the most efficient buildings in the nation. Also, the Company was recognized for its outstanding achievements in implementing programs that provide and promote commuting alternatives for its associates, such as its shuttle bus to and from the Morris Plains train station and its New Jersey Transit bus stop at its corporate office location, thus reducing traffic congestions and improving air quality.
