Tashiro will be responsible for handling day-to-day security operations at Dulles, which includes both passenger and baggage screening at the airport. She has served as the Acting FSD at IAD since April 2010.
For more than seven years, Tashiro worked in different positions within TSA. Previously, Tashiro served as the Deputy FSD at Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA) and later assumed the same role at IAD.
"Susan's diverse background and wealth of experience at TSA has prepared her for the challenge of leading federal transportation security efforts at Dulles," said Lee Kair, TSA's Assistant Administrator for Security Operations. "Her outstanding leadership and determination to enhance transportation security will continue to be a significant asset to TSA operations."
At TSA, Tashiro worked as the Director of two Business Management offices—one supporting Transportation Sector Network Management and the other supporting the Office of Security Operations. She was also the Director for Program Planning and Management for the Office of Security Technologies.
Prior to joining TSA, Tashiro worked at a court and law enforcement consulting firm and at the U.S. Department of Justice in support of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act. She holds a Bachelor's Degree from Colorado State University and earned her Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Colorado.
