Survey Says One Fourth of Travelers Now Book Packages
CHICAGO, Jan. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Slightly more than 25 percent of travelers book packages instead of individual services, according to a survey conducted by GO Airport Express, a Chicago-based ground transportation service and GO Airport Shuttle, an international transportation provider. More than six hundred people responded to the survey.
Of those who favored to book packages, 32 percent book flights and hotels at the same time, while 28 percent also booked cars at the same time. Almost 20 percent book flights and cars at the same time. Less than seven percent book hotel and car packages.
At 60 percent, the most popular way to book according to respondents is via a travel website. This was followed by airline sites at 33 percent and hotel sites at just over six percent.
Write-in comments included booking using a university brochure, a travel agent from the office or via a credit card site.
"The convenience and potential savings of package deals may be more appealing to consumers as travel becomes more expensive and new technologies are developed for price comparisons and booking," says John McCarthy, president, GO Airport Express.
GO Airport Express, one of the oldest companies in Chicago, traces its founding to 1853 and the Parmelee Transportation Company, which provided a carriage service between Chicago's railroad stations and the downtown hotels. The GO Group LLC is the nation's largest airport transportation provider, serving some 60 airports in North America, Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe and transporting more than 13 million passengers per year.
