Survey: Even Women in Relationships Couldn't Care Less about Valentine's Day
Nearly Half of Those Surveyed Report Dreading February 14 More Than Any Other Holiday; A Third Would Skip Sex to Watch TV
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In a new Relationship Confessions survey commissioned by epi24, the makers of the popular Womanizer intimacy product line, women reveal their true feelings toward sex and relationships, including what they expect from their partners, the gifts they like least, and more.
While Valentine's Day is generally considered a special time to celebrate romance, epi24's survey suggests for many it's anything but--even for those with partners. Not only do 44% say they do not expect to receive any gifts or special dinners to mark the occasion, 41% of those in a relationship report dreading Valentine's Day more than any other holiday. Don't think you're off the hook if you're just entering into a relationship with a woman: 61% of them say length of relationship does not matter when it comes to celebrating on February 14.
Valentine's Day: Naughtiness
If you're feeling frisky the night of, be aware that sex is not a given--34% of the women surveyed would rather watch TV. And if you do make it into the sack, proceed with caution--Valentine's Day may come with its own set of rules:
- 43% of women do not want to try anything new or daring
- 94% of women will be particularly averse to bondage
- In fact, 35% of women say they'll most look forward to... the cuddling (28% say foreplay, 21% say climax)
69% of women surveyed want more give and take when getting in the mood. And according to Womanizer's Representative, Morgan Rossi, "partners should consider using a sex toy." Rossi explains "women become aroused quicker when using a sex toy, which can create a more pleasurable experience for both people."
If you find you're still working on getting lucky, do not sing to your would-be paramour. 40% list serenading as the corniest V-Day gesture ever. (At 21%, rose petals on the bed is a distant second.)
If you're looking to maintain a strong relationship, keep in mind these two words: communication and trust. 72% of women believe communication is the most important thing in a relationship--nothing else comes close, not even having fun together (11%) or sexual attraction (2%)! And the best way to ruin a good thing? 61% say: broken trust. (At 22%, self absorption can also be a deal breaker.)
