HOUSTON, Feb. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital Surgical Weight Loss Program has achieved national accreditation from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). The MBSAQIP is a joint program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). The MBSAQIP recognizes weight loss surgery programs that meet national quality standards and provide safe, high-quality bariatric patient care.
The Houston Methodist Willowbrook Surgical Weight Loss Program was also recognized for providing high quality preoperative and postoperative care to improve patient outcomes and assist bariatric surgical patients with having long-term success in their weight loss journey.
This is the second national designation in less than 18 months for the Houston Methodist Willowbrook Surgical Weight Loss Program. Additionally, the program was recognized as a Blue Distinction Center® by Blue Cross Blue Shield, awarded the Institute of Quality Achievement by Aetna and has been designated as a Center of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (COEMBS) by the Surgical Review Corporation.
