SupplySide West, the Leading Ingredients and Supply-Chain Tradeshow for the Health and Nutrition Industry, Hosts Largest Event in 22-Year History; Introduces New Opportunities to Learn, Engage and Fuel Growth
PHOENIX, Nov. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- SupplySide West, the leading ingredients and supply-chain event for the health and nutrition industry, gathered 1,300 exhibitors with more than 17,000 global professionals, an 8 percent increase from 2017 and a record for the show. Now in its 22nd year, the event returned to Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas from November 6-10.
Produced by Informa Exhibitions, SupplySide West showcased top ingredients and technologies that will fuel growth and drive trends in dietary supplements, foods, beverages and sports nutrition products. The four-day event featured a robust education program, two-day tradeshow and impactful networking opportunities.
"It is a privilege to serve our industry and support the efforts of so many leaders to bring more health to more people," said Jon Benninger, vice president of Informa's Global Health & Nutrition Network.
Attendees were offered ample education opportunities at this year's event including a series of workshops focused on market trends, clinical research, formulation considerations, regulatory changes and much more. Featured speaker Michael Solomon, Ph.D., author of Consumer Behavior: Buying, Having and Being, shared insights into growing the bottom line through a deeper connection with customers.
The SupplySide Launchpad, a feature of the SupplySide Central Stage, showcased suppliers presenting information on new ingredients; and courses presented with NSF International offered training around key GMP (good manufacturing practice) issues. The SupplySide West Exhibitor Presentation Theater featured sponsored presentations by industry professionals addressing science, trends and market data.
"SupplySide West remains the top gathering point for the industry's leading thinkers to convene and address top issues that will impact businesses in the years ahead, said Heather Granato, vice president of content, Informa Health & Nutrition. "From record-setting attendance in the official education programming to the new Esca Bona pavilion content, participants at this year's event made the most of the opportunities to forge strong connections and learn more about trends in areas from CBD to sports nutrition, and clean label to pre- and probiotics."
New in 2018, the Esca Bona at SupplySide West platform debuted as a way to bring more natural and organic food & beverage ingredient suppliers and buyers together with a focus on ingredients and finished products for the good food movement. "It was great to participate, along with so many good food movement leaders, in the Esca Bona Programming at SupplySide West. Since it is one of the leading ingredient shows for the natural products industry, it makes sense for SupplySide West to expand its focus to include even more 'better for people and the planet' products and education," said Jim Slama, founder and CEO of FamilyFarmed.
Granato and the team at Natural Products INSIDER share their insights on the top trends of SupplySide West in the award-winning Healthy INSIDER podcast series featured on the Natural Products INSIDER website.
The 2018 SupplySide CPG Editor's Choice Awards recognized innovative finished products launched by CPG companies in a variety of supplement and food & beverage categories. The full list of winners in supplements and food & beverage are available online.
Beginning in 2019, SupplySide West will be co-located with Food ingredients North America (FiNA), bringing this global event to the United States for the first time. The combined event will serve large food and beverage brands as well as the fast growing natural, organic and functional food & beverage companies that are driving significant growth in the market.
The event also called attention to the non-profit Vitamin Angels organization that delivers needed vitamins and nutrients to millions of women and children around the world. Informa co-hosted a CEO reception to expand awareness of the program and presented the organization with a donation of $50,000, which will deliver needed vitamin A to 200,000 children.
