LOS ANGELES, Feb. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Supermarket partners Ralphs Grocery Company and Food 4 Less Stores today announced their stores raised more than $300,000 from November through January for Feeding America affiliated food banks. The company thanked its customers and associates for their commitment to ending hunger.
"We are continually amazed by the generosity of our customers and associates to help the less fortunate," said Kendra Doyel, Senior Manager, Community Affairs for Ralphs/Food 4 Less. "Our fundraising efforts will have a measurable impact in the fight to end hunger in our community."
The funds raised by Ralphs and Food 4 Less, and their 375 stores – including Food 4 Less and Ralphs stores in Southern California, Food 4 Less stores in southern Nevada and the greater Chicago area, and Foods Co stores in Central and Northern California – will benefit the following Feeding America affiliated food banks:
- Community Food Bank (Fresno)
- Feeding America San Diego
- FIND Food Bank (Indio)
- Foodbank of Santa Barbara County
- FOOD Share (Oxnard)
- Greater Chicago Food Depository
- Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
- San Francisco Food Bank
- Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County
- Second Harvest Food Bank Serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties
- Three Square Food Bank (Las Vegas)
The funds were raised through Ralphs and Food 4 Less' annual holiday "Bringing Hope to the Table" campaign that provided customers with an opportunity to donate at each checkstand from November 10, 2013 to January 31, 2014. In addition, customers shopping at Ralphs stores in Southern California were also able to make monetary donations to end hunger by purchasing "Bringing Hope to the Table" scan cards.
Ralphs and Food 4 Less' ongoing commitment to bring as much food as possible to hungry families also includes their Perishables Donations Partnership (PDP) program. The program allows fresh, wholesome food such as meat, produce and dairy products to be donated directly from Ralphs and Food 4 Less stores to local food banks that are able to safely handle perishable foods.
Ralphs and Food 4 Less have donated more than 4.2 million pounds of perishable foods to hunger organization in the communities served by their stores. This represents more than 5,330,000 meals for hungry families.
