DALLAS, Feb. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In the spirit of Valentine's Day and sharing love with others, Altus Hospice (altushospicecare.com) and Altus Foundation (altusfoundation.com) arranged for superhero Batman to recently visit patient Jeffrey Yaws' 27th birthday party near Dallas, Texas.
Jeffrey's diagnosis is Hunter's Disease, a terminal genetic disorder, and he has been under the care of Altus Hospice since December 2014. Upon learning about his passion for the superhero, Altus Foundation worked quickly to arrange the joyful meet-up with Batman and make the celebration special for the entire family.
The Texas-based healthcare foundation provides resources and support for financially challenged patients in need of healthcare and hospice services. Most recently, the foundation raised $175,000 in December 2014 at its annual gala. The amount raised at the event will help provide more than $7 million worth of healthcare services to those in need. The event included a special guest appearance by New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez. Rodriguez's Mercedes-Benz of Clear Lake has been a grand sponsor of the foundation's fundraiser for six years and a supporter of the foundation's work in the community. Over this time, Rodriguez's sponsorship has helped to provide healthcare services for patients like Jeffrey.
