GENEVA, March 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Four of the world's most prized supercars recently made their debuts at the Geneva International Motor Show dressed in Alcantara.
The Ferrari F8 Tributo, the McLaren 600LT Spider by MSO, the Aston Martin Valkyrie and the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster sported interiors in black, white and dark grey Alcantara with contrasting stitching in bright colors.
Ferrari F8 Tributo's seating had a combination of perforated dark grey Alcantara with silver backing in contrast to black and red leather, the same color that matches the car's exterior paint and helped define the lines of the seat and backrest.
Alcantara was used extensively throughout the interior of the McLaren 600LT Spider by MSO beginning with the Spider's dashboard which was covered in grey Alcantara with contrasting green stitching. The car's Alcantara seating surfaces offer grip resistance against driver and passenger movement in sharp curves. The colored 600LT logo is embroidered on the headrest.
Alcantara ensured optimal seat grip on the side panels of the Aston Martin Valkyrie's seats to hold the driver during lateral acceleration. The Valkyrie's cockpit was fully dressed with black Alcantara combined with carbon fiber to reduce weight. The four-point safety belts in acid green and black Alcantara are combined with topstitching to define every detail of the racing seat. On the racetrack, a vehicle's cockpit can get quite hot, so a breathable and wear-resistant material such as Alcantara is a must.
The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster featured two-tone white and dark-grey Alcantara wrap-around seats combined with black leather inserts to recreate the typical hexagonal design of Lamborghini. Cross-stitching in contrasting colors defined the shape of Roadster's seats and headrests which included a logo embroidered on dark Alcantara and vertical embroidery on the side of the SVJ model.
It's not only customization, but technology that underlines the success of Alcantara for the interiors of supercars presented at the Geneva show (March 7-17).
Alcantara guarantees grip and breathability in driving conditions as extreme as those found at racetracks, where professional drivers unleash all of their vehicle's horsepower on the asphalt. Here a good grip, made more reliable with Alcantara, is essential for precise shifts and ultimately for speed.
