Sunshine Health Welcomes Lorraine Martinez As VP of Child Welfare
SUNRISE, Fla., Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sunshine Health, a subsidiary of Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC), announced today that Lorraine Martinez will assume the role of Vice President of Child Welfare beginning March 3, 2014. Lorraine most recently served as the Director of STAR Health Relations for Superior Health Plan, which is also a subsidiary of Centene Corporation in Texas. During her time at Superior, Lorraine spearheaded the implementation of its Child Welfare/Foster Care health care coverage statewide.

Lorraine began her Child Welfare career advocating for and protecting abused and neglected children as a Child Protective Specialist at the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services. Additionally, she worked as a Case Manager and Regional Director for a child placing agency. Lorraine is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University and holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology. Apart from her work experience, Lorraine was certified as a Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for three teenagers and served on numerous boards and organizations that protect and advocate for underserved children.

In February, the Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA) and Sunshine Health formally signed a contract designating Sunshine Health as the Specialty Plan Medicaid provider for Child Welfare/Foster Care health insurance services statewide. Sunshine Health was recommended for award in September and will start phasing in Child Welfare across Florida beginning May 1, 2014.
